Web4each is a toolkit for writing webenabled Progress applications. It is meant to fill the gap to get your progressapplication connected to the intra/internet without webspeed.
If you have a windows webserver you can easely install web4each and develop webenabled applications with Progress. Knowledge of HTML is needed and knowledge of XML is optional. Web4each is developed and supported by For Each bv in the Netherlands.
Web4each consists of:
web4each.exe which can easely be configured on the webserver (only runs on a windows platform)
web4each.ini consist of the configuration information needed by web4each.exe
scriptconfig.exe is a windows interface to configure the web4each.ini
web4each.ocx that needs to be imported into a progress program that will function as a webagent
web4each.i & web4eachagent.i these are progress-includes which are free to use to get a quick start
Examples of Progress code for a webagent, a "Hello world!" program and a simple application with use of the sports database.
The actual code that you write can be:
Simple Progress code that outputs HyperText Markup Language(HTML) or for the more sophiticated applications Extended Markup Language(XML). The output is not fancy but you can easily use existing text-based reports and output them to the web.
More complex web applications using the power of HyperText Markup Language(HTML). The Progress p-code you write is responsible for outputting the HTML tags as it runs.

The demo programs are installed on www.foreach.nl. This website runs on a pentium 4 3Ghz with a 2mb upstream SDSL. The application / database is Progress V10 connected via Web4each.exe.
